Thursday June 18, 2026 3:30pm - 5:00pm EDT
The Center for Advanced Transportation Technology (CATT) Laboratory at UMD supports national, state, and local efforts to solve important transportation, safety, and security problems. Center developers and engineers work on information visualization, user interface design, and performance measurement and analysis and develop real-time systems that fuse massive data from millions of sensors across the U.S.

We will see demonstrations of world-wide transportation data analytics and situational awareness tools that will include visualizations of maritime, air, and people movements, congestion and weather analytics, safety analytics, real-time vehicle movement visualizations, and more. They will also take people into their D.C. metro region emergency operations center that is responsible for coordinating transportation and emergency management response for the entire National Capital Region.

Shuttle vans will transport you to the CATT Lab (approx. 7 minute drive) as that location is just off campus in UMD’s Discovery District. We will drop off at hotels (The Hotel, Cambria, the Marriott) after the tour. Please be ready to board the shuttles by 3:15pm.
